This chemical reaction is called "saponification" and transforms these base ingredients into soap.

What is the difference between KayKay Essentials soaps and commercial soaps?
KayKay Essentials soaps are made with natural organic ingredients. We use a mixture of nurturing organic oils and lye. The lye combines with the oils and turns the mixture into soap. Commercial brands use a mix of harsh chemicals and sulfates to create something that resembles soap. Our skin is the largest and only exterior organ, why would you settle for anything less.
What should I do if my package is lost or stolen?
Once packages leave our facility, we are no longer responsible for transit. If your package was lost or stolen, you must file a claim with USPS. The link is provided below to start the process of your claim.

What should I do if my package is damaged?
If you receive damaged items, email info@kaykayessentials.com photos of the damaged product within 24 hours of receiving the order. Since the damage will have occurred during shipping, which is not the senders responsibility, you will be eligible for a replacement product on the house but will just need to pay the shipping fee.
Do you use dye in your soap?
We do not use dye in any of our products. A few of our soaps do contain a coloring powder called Mica. Mica is a naturally occurring skin safe mineral. Mica is safe for all skin types and does not dye your skin in any way
Do you use Lye (Sodium Hydroxide) in your handmade soap?
Most definitely. True soap cannot be made without Lye, it would be a detergent. Sodium hydroxide (also called caustic soda or lye) which is an alkali, is combined with oils to cause a chemical reaction called saponification. The saponification process breaks down the fats or oils into fatty acid chains, and the lye is neutralized in the process. The lye will have completely evaporated by the time the soap has cured (4-6 weeks) and ready to use. There is no lye present in the finished bars of soaps.
